I looked a home up that was in foreclosure, and you are only able to get the info on it
if you subscribe to the sites. (ex reality trac, foreclosure.com) Do I call a bank to find more out?

The info on those sites is VERY outdated. You can try the bank, however unless you are a cash buyer….they will not even talk to you. Your other option is a Realtor who specializes in foreclosures in your area.

Visit your local realtor and talk to the agent that specializes in HUD property. That is what I did 10 years ago and got a choice property (just south of Houston) about 25% below market value. Don’t make a really cheap bid; use good judgment.

Do you contact local banks? Do you go through real estate agents? What do you do to find them in your local area?

Find an agent, because some state don’t let you see the forclosed property and you are gambling with your future. Some might be crack house before, so it need to be commerically cleaned. There are agents specailized in foreclose houses, find someone who is experiecned in this area, this is not something to save money for.
