Your Questions About Foreclosures

The Expert answers:

If you hire a laywer, they can work it to stalll the foreclosure but most situations, once they start the proceeding, you need to pay out the amount the bank requires to get it out of foreclosure proceeding or else it is a done deal.

No bank would let you wait to sell your house to pay off the debt and loan, but the best you can do is to save this is to get money loan from family or friends, and get the house sold.

If everyone in America were atheists, would it solve the problem of home foreclosures?

How about if everybody in America belonged to your religion, whatever it may be?

Would there be no home foreclosures then?

I’m asking partly because of this recent quote from a financial web site, quoting the secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Steve Preston, as saying: “We expect to see more than 2 million foreclosures this year” (2009)

If all Americans stopped believing in God — or if we all gave our lives over to Jesus, if you prefer – could those 2 million anticipated home foreclosures be avoided?

Why or why not?

Your Questions About Foreclosures

The Expert answers:

It makes no difference at all, everyone regardless of religion or lack of it is suffering from this problem. Also it is more complicated than just people who bought a house they could not afford. Many mortgage companies purposely put people into adjustable mortgages when they qualified for a fixed loan, in many of these cases they were minorities or lower middle class whites. Remember that a lot of people who are now being foreclosed did not make this mistake they are victims of dropping housing prices which have now made their loans under-water (they now owe more than the house is worth), they then lose their jobs and are unable to make the payments. Don’t judge all people based on the actions of the irresponsible.

The people who offer you free information on foreclosures are the same people who are trying to sucker you into paying too much for a house because you think that you are getting a deal below fair market value when you are actually paying more than fair market value.
