Is information for foreclosures at the county clerk free?

I recently visited the local county clerk looking for information on foreclosures. However to my disappointment I could only look up information on properties you have some info. on (e.g. id #, address, name). I asked a lady at the front desk and was told that finding foreclosed properties was NOT free and that I had to purchase the information from a MLS. What happened? I keep hearing that we can find free information. Please help, I’m trying to purchase my first home.

Your Questions About Foreclosures

Laura asks…

What can we do about all of these mortgage foreclosures in America?

Whats done is done now but how could congress help people who are in foreclosure as of now?

Your Questions About Foreclosures

The Expert answers:

We could end government support of the mortgage companies, and repeal the government changes that have made getting mortgages from a non-government entity very difficult, and still allowing sub-prime loans that Fannie and Freddie (i.e. The taxpayer) will back.

It was government interference which caused the problem, and it is government interference that is now preventing recovery from the problem.

Get the government out of the mortgage business and let private companies determine the risk they will assume in their mortgage business.

We don’t need the greedy, biased and immoral hands of the government distorting the market for their personal gains and gains for their friends. If we don’t deliver our government from such temptation, they will most definitely engage in evil.
