ANCHORAGE, Alaska – Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin told ministry students at her former church that the United States sent troops to fight in the Iraq war on a “task that is from God.”
In an address last June, the Republican vice presidential candidate also urged ministry students to pray for a plan to build a $30 billion natural gas pipeline in the state, calling it “God’s will.”
Palin asked the students to pray for the troops in Iraq, and noted that her eldest son, Track, was expected to be deployed there.
“Our national leaders are sending them out on a task that is from God,” she said. “That’s what we have to make sure that we’re praying for, that there is a plan and that plan is God’s plan.”

Your Questions About Foreclosures

The Expert answers:

Yes I did. I’m confident the American people will reject four more years of failed Busheconomics and reckless foreign policy.
A vote for John McCain is a vote for a third Bush term. McCain admitted that his relationship with Bush is based on shared views in Iraq, immigration and a common agenda. McCain has offered no plan to end the war in Iraq. In fact, McCain says he is comfortable with being in Iraq for a hundred years. McCain offers a health care plan that is similar to Bush’s proposal, which failed to expand coverage and cut health care costs. McCain endorsed Bush’s plan to privatize Social Security—so much so he joined Bush on the campaign to sell the proposal. Although McCain previously opposed Bush’s tax cuts for the wealthy he has made a “breathtaking turnaround” and supports these budget-busting, tax cuts for the wealthy.

Your Questions About Foreclosures

Ruth asks…

Is Bush using scare tactics on us again about the economy like he does with “terrorism”?

President Bush said Wednesday that lawmakers risk a cascade of wiped-out retirement savings, rising home foreclosures, lost jobs and closed businesses if they fail to act on a massive financial rescue plan. “Our entire economy is in danger,” he said. “Without immediate action by Congress, America could slip into a financial panic, and a distressing scenario would unfold,” Bush said in a 12-minute prime-time address delivered from the White House East Room that he hoped would help rescue his tough-sell bailout package. “Ultimately, our country could experience a long and painful recession.”

Your Questions About Foreclosures

Carol asks…

If you could come up with your own new deal what programs would you have to help the economy?

this is the whole assignment:
“FDR’s “new deal” during the great depression served several purposes. First it provided jobs to lower unemployment. New it provided “safety nets” for the economy so that the inevitable depressions that would happen in the future would not be as deep or as wide spread as the great depression. Finally, it provides a “safety net” by the government that would provide the “welfare” for people who had no income or savings.
Your task! You are in charge of rewriting the new deal to fit today’s financial crisis. You have $720 billion bailout that congress passed to worth with. Throw out programs that are no longer appropriate, changes ones that just need tweaking, and write some of your own that you think are necessary.
First, identify the problems you see as MOST pressing to fix in today’s economy. (For example: home foreclosures, auto-industry crisis, the banking industry, homelessness, the middle class, ect.)
Second, look through FDR’s programs and chose 2-3 that you would keep/reinstitute (pg 687 and 692). For each program, list the purpose, who it would help, and how much you think it would cost taxpayers.
Next, pick 2-3 programs that would work if you just changed a bit. Again, list the purpose of the program, who it would help, and how much it would cost taxpayers.
Finally, what issues did FDR leave? Okay, make up 3-4 NEW programs to address those issues. Catchy names will make it more interesting!!! Of course, for each program, list to purpose, who it would help, and how much you think it would cost taxpayers.
OK. Now that you have the main, write a stump speech to “sell” your program to congress! Tell them why you have the best idea to rescue the economy, and explain each program you have chosen.”

I just need some program ideas but other information would be amazing :]
I’ll make it worth your wild with as many points as i can give you
please make sureif you give me any answer that it includes program ideas :O

Your Questions About Foreclosures

The Expert answers:

The world was less global and the US prints its own money.

The new deal pumped money into the economy, but also made money-making machines that otherwise could not exist at the time. The electricity from Dam-generator projects like TVA allowed mass production of aluminum (which used to be more rare than platinum). A side effect is that these investments did things like open the western deserts in the US for habitation through air-conditioning – they expanded the human habitat.

Only 25% of the world is the habitat for humanity while 75% is inaccessible. Large-scale undersea human habitats would require a TON of resources (meaning the investment gets spread well throughout the economy). They also would be revolutionary, and possibly open up much more of the earth to habitation, as well as providing a framework for innovations that will apply if humanity ever seriously ventures off of living on earth (it seriously might never do that.. The window on that is slowly closing).

Construction of a super-large launching & catching device for putting things into orbit, and recieving them (some variation on H.G. Wells, or the elevator to space) could allow mining of asteroids for their immense rare mineral content.

Three fluids are going away: oil, air, and water. Construction of large-scale measures for sustaining them might be apropriate. Can we feed landfill waste into the right part of the earths crust for it to be geothermally cracked and converted into a meaningfully effective form for re-extraction? Can we create large-scale cleaning tools for air and water?

One key point of this is that the money has to be spent locally
– no getting EU or APIA companies developing the technology, skillset, or taking the resources.
– Every last propagated penny needs to stay in the US economy.
